More than 2,200 pieces of jade and various ceramic figures were found in the largest tomb.

A team of archaeologists has recently found 27 tombs and hundreds of objects over 2,000 years old while conducting excavations at the starting point of theSilk Road in Northwest China's Shaanxi province, local media report.

The discovery corresponds to the period of the Han dynasty, considered the ‘Golden age‘Of the history of China, which ruled the territory between the years 202 BC and 220 AD. Four of the tombs are large-scale and due to their characteristics, experts consider them to belong toimportant characters of the time.

In the largest tomb, more than2,200 pieces of jade and various ceramic figures. After the restoration of the objects and the study of the place, the specialists will be able to find valuable information about the funeral customs of that time.

The Silk Road was established during the time of the Han Dynasty and originated in Xi’an, making it one of thehistorical capitals from China. Likewise, the place is known because life-size terracotta warriors and horses were found nearby, linked to Emperor Qin Shi Huang.
